I am a happily married mommy of 4 very unique kiddoes. I live a blessed life and am thankful daily for all that God has given me. Each day I try to be the best person I can be. Some days I fall flat on my face, and other days I feel like a queen...like I can do it all. When my time on earth is through, I long to hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." I love Jesus, fall/holiday scented candles, going to church, pizza, bookstores, Dr. Pepper, studying the bible, the color turquoise, old Hitchcock movies, coffee, rainy days, friendships with depth, digital scrapbooking, big family get-togethers, Christmas, organizing, lemon/lime, fried pickles, October, scrapbook paper, White House/Black Market, cooking, the Texas Rangers, looking for new recipes, people that are genuine, stories of redemption, Jay Leno, reading to my kids, that my husband cooks things for me that he doesn't even like... I am not fond of fatty meat, people that think JUST because they go to church they are Christians, mistakes in spelling & punctuation, rude people, hearing about babies or children being abused, narcissists, rap music, humidity, small talk...
I heard this song a few months ago and it so connected with me. I wish that I had heard it as a teenager. I remember just crying my eyes out driving thinking I don't want my daughters to have to go through their pre-teen and teen years constantly feeling like they don't measure up in every way due to all of the media influence and airbrushed images they see everywhere!!! What a lovely message that you are perfect just the way you are. I just stumbled upon this video for the song. It's pretty powerful! Especially seeing the faces getting photoshopped. Let me know what you think.
I'm also including the lyrics. They are definitely worth a read! Especially the last paragraph.
Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn't straight her body isn't fake
And she's always felt overweight
Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are
[Chorus]
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you
Little girl twenty-one the things that you've already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you've got a man but he's got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead
Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there's a man whose love is true
And he'll treat you like the jewel you are
[chorus]
So turn around you're not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It's not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who's strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl
