There Could Never be a More Beautiful You

I heard this song a few months ago and it so connected with me.  I wish that I had heard it as a teenager.  I remember just crying my eyes out driving thinking I don't want my daughters to have to go through their pre-teen and teen years constantly feeling like they don't measure up in every way due to all of the media influence and airbrushed images they see everywhere!!!  What a lovely message that you are perfect just the way you are.  I just stumbled upon this video for the song.  It's pretty powerful!  Especially seeing the faces getting photoshopped.  Let me know what you think.

I'm also including the lyrics.  They are definitely worth a read!  Especially the last paragraph.

Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine

Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn't straight her body isn't fake
And she's always felt overweight

Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are

[Chorus]
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Little girl twenty-one the things that you've already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you've got a man but he's got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there's a man whose love is true
And he'll treat you like the jewel you are

[chorus]

So turn around you're not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It's not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who's strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl

[chorus]

"Too bad the bible can't be a textbook"

This morning Jacob and I had an interesting conversation:

Jacob:  We started learning about space last week and it doesn't say anything in the textbook about who (I love that he actually put emphasis on this word) created the sun, moon, stars and space.  It just bothers me that is doesn't say anything about God.

Me:  And that's because that's creationism and most textbooks won't cover that.  Remember how we've talked about separation of church and state before?

Jacob:  Too bad the bible can't be a textbook.  Next week I'm going to raise my hand and say in front of the class that the reason we have all of those things in space is because God created them.  And I don't care if I get in trouble.

Me:  You wouldn't get in trouble.  That's your belief.

Jacob:  Well I still don't care if I got in trouble.

Right on, my boy!  Right on!

Jacob is such a conscientious student and from kindergarten up to this point in third grade, he has never
had his folder signed.  I say this only to show what a teacher pleaser he is.  I am so proud of him, though, that he recognizes that sometimes you have to say or do things, when your beliefs are on the line.  I hope that he keeps this quality throughout his life!

One Week

One week. December 21st-27th.  One of the busiest weeks of our lives.  We flew home from Chicago on Monday night, the 21st after a fun weekend up north in the snowy cold with the Yates family.  From Tuesday to Sunday this is what life was like:  unpacked, finished Christmas shopping,  finished Christmas baking, cleaned the house, too many loads of laundry to count, wrapped a ton of presents, celebrated Christmas 3 times, went to church, got ready for Disney without letting it slip to the kids, read several Christmas books to the kids, watched a few Christmas movies as a family,  cleaned the house again, had a birthday party for Matt, packed for Disneyworld...Whew, I am tired just thinking about what that week was like.  But it was also filled with so many magical memories.  Upon reflecting on all of those memories, I am again reminded of the blessings in my life.  Again, too many to mention.

For you send blessings of good things to meet him.
